The Dacotah Prairie Museum in South Dakota – A Great Vacation and Travel Destination

Posted on September 30, 2017 in Uncategorized

The Dacotah Prairie Museum got its start back in 1938 and quickly amassed a great deal of items for the collection. The museum moved from location to location for some time before finally settling in 1970. There are many things to see at the museum thanks to the many donors who donated items for the museum or loaned them for a specific collection. During the 1980s and 1990s the museum continued to grow and establish itself.

During the last decade the Dacotah Prairie Museum has really come a long way. The historic building where it resides will be restored and the museum’s mission is to fund itself through donations, grants, and the like.

If you happen to be traveling in South Dakota you will definitely want to stop and learn a little more about the history and culture of the area at the Dacotah Prairie Museum. The gallery is open from 9 am until 8 pm on Tuesday and from 9 am until 5 pm Wednesday through Friday. Saturday and Sunday the museum is only open from 1 pm until 4 pm and the office hours are 8 am until 5 pm all week long.

This is a great family outing because there is no admission. You can take the time to learn a little more about the history of South Dakota and the people who lived there without having to pay anything in admission. Since it is completely free you will definitely want to check it out. Donations are accepted, but not required.

The Dacotah Prairie Museum is not a destination that you would likely plan to visit all on its own, unless you live nearby. However, if you are traveling anywhere near the Dacotah Prairie Museum then you will certainly want to take the time and energy to take it out. The collection is actually quite amazing and you will find some things you may not have seen or heard of before. It’s definitely an educational place to visit and great for families with children.

Travel Deals and Discounts – Discover Why Traveling in 2010 Will Continue to Have Cheaper Rates

Posted on September 28, 2017 in Uncategorized

There are no guarantees in this life for 2010 except a few sure things, taxes and cheaper travels for everyone. For families that love discounted travel and better travel deals for vacations, the deals will continue to pour out. And this is not just coming from some expert travel analysis overview of the travel industry, but rather yet coming directly from CEOs of major travel companies.

For instance Stein Kruse, CEO of Holland America Line (cruise industry) says, ” The deals and discounts will continue in 2010,” which means better travel discounts for all travelers. The recession of the U.S. hasn’t turned around yet for many travel companies and many are starting to re-focus on what really drives their business; the traveling customers.

Chairman of Sandals and Beach Resorts, Gordon Butch Stewart stated, “Let’s start with the idea that whatever we do, our service and satisfaction levels will have to improve. So we started a degree of restructuring.”

Companies are now restructuring their way of doing business to drive traveling consumers back to their hotels, airlines, cruises and resorts. And for once, consumers are really benefiting from this instantly. This means cheaper travel discounts and less cost per person will continue throughout 2010 with no sign of price rises, making travel that much cheaper and affordable to all.

Robert Joselyn, CEO of Joselyn Tepper and Associates, recently spoke to Travel Weekly magazine with this to say, “But first, agencies need to have an increased focus on their existing client base. Don’t lose touch with clients. Communicate with those folks more often and in a more personal way.”

Finally, they’re listening to our complaints, comments and suggestions. Consumers now have the edge in travel, not the companies. We can use this towards our advantage for demands in better pricing and service.

Shirley Tafoya, President, North America of Travelzoo, recently stated, “Look at consumer spending. People are definitely saving more. The decrease in travel spending is causing angst among suppliers, causing more deals to come into the market.”

More deals to come into the market, wow! It just keeps getting better and better everyday.

Travel agents are becoming more of a favorable choice to bargain with mainly because of their friendly customer service and access to unlimited travel deals. Just partner up with the right one and he/she will easily flood you with an avalanche of deals to knock your socks off.

So start planning for your 2010 family vacations now, travel deals and discounts are very affordable nowadays. Several years ago, the average household was spending on average $3000 annually on vacations. Expect that figure to decrease dramatically around $2000 or less per family primary because consumers are now the demand for the travel industry, and not the vendors.

Finding the Best Savings on Travel Deals

Posted on September 26, 2017 in Uncategorized

Taking a vacation can be expensive, yet you may be tired of the typical staycation. Instead, consider taking a travel vacation that you can afford. If you plan ahead you will be able to have a wonderful vacation using travel deals and discounts to keep you within budget.

Get a Deal Online

The Internet offers a great way to find some of the best prices on travel. You can easily compare prices until you find the one that works best for you. Keep in mind that the travel options and deals that are offered change often. You’ll want to return to the site several times to see all that they have to offer. Check various travel sites to find the latest special deals that are offered.

Reserve Early

There are often some good price savings to be had when you book your trip early enough. The prices may go up but if you’ve already booked your trip you’ll be able to pay the lower rate. Be sure that you check to see if extra charges apply for making date changes or if you cancel. You can also pre-pay for your hotel and meals so that you’ll have fewer charges during the trip.

Wait Until the Last Minute

If you’re considering a last-minute trip you may be in luck. You’ll often be able to find really good prices on airfare and hotel rates when you book at the last minute. This works the best during the off season. If the hotel is under-sold they will often try to reduce rates on the rooms to increase their occupancy. You may be able to get a room upgrade for a lower price as well.

Look for Savings

Good preparation will ensure that you’ll find the best deals. For example, if you need to park at the airport consider choosing an offsite parking lot rather than the airport lot. You’ll often be able to get a substantial savings. If you plan your trip well, you should be able to locate several such savings options throughout your vacation. If you have kids, consider choosing a suite hotel. You’ll be able to save money by cooking light breakfasts and keeping snacks on hand.

Group Savings

Traveling as part of a group is often much cheaper than going it alone. Group travel packages are a great way to find savings on your trip. One of the biggest areas of savings will be on airfare since groups may use a charter flight. Of course, be cautious of any changes. Most of these trips are for specific dates and cannot be changed or refunded.

Set a Budget

It’s always a good idea to set a travel budget. Determine the total amount that you can spend on the trip as well as the daily spending allowance for food and incidentals. Be aware of your budget so that you don’t overspend. It’s very easy to end up going way over budget and spending more than you should on your trip. Plan some activities that don’t cost anything so that you’ll be sure to save money for other activities.
